Information Asymmetry

Stock market tumbled again, widely being termed as Black Monday. Remember there were atleast two three "black monday" in US stock market (as far as I know). Black Monday was the 2nd worst day in U.S. stock market history. The worst day in history wouldn’t come for 58 more years (October 19th, 1987), which also happens to be a Monday and is also referred to as "Black Monday".from http://mutualfunds.about.com/cs/1929marketcrash/a/black_monday.htm There was another one in 1997, which this site did not factor in. Probably after dot.com bust there was no need to do so ;-). Why do these things happen on Monday? Do traders try to take advantage of the "uninformed" investors? Monday being monday people will come to their desk a little later than usual :-). But in India all the investors had the same information, India is (was?) shining therefore nobody can think of this dark period at the time of Indian renaissance. Or were some of our friends in the Financial Institutions out of touch with the ground reality (if there is any such thing), as were some of our esteemed politicians?
